02-197 Issue 365 – Note on IOSTAT and IOMSG To: J3 From: Craig Dedo Date: May 13, 2002 Subject: Issue 365 – Note on IOSTAT and IOMSG Issue The editor writes: As mentioned in discussion of paper 02-132r1, there needs to be a note discussing the iostat and iomsg arguments. The note needs to mention that the values of these arguments are not necessarily passed through as is to the parent I/O statement. If we don't mention this explicitly, a lot of people will assume that the value is passed through and that we just forgot to specify that. Edits [206:1–] Delete unresolved issue 365. Replace it with the following note. Note 9.45a The values of the iostat and iomsg arguments set in a user-defined derived-type input/output procedure need not be passed to all of the parent data transfer statements. For example, they might be modified, combined with other error messages, or the problem eliminated by intermediate user-defined derived-type input/output procedures.
