1. Introduction
---------------
In much of the standard we use the words "appears in" to indicate that a
statement keyword (such as the name of an attribute) appears in a statement.
In some other parts, we use the words "is present" to indicate the same thing.

This is confusing not only because we are using different words to mean the
same thing, but because "present" has a specific technical meaning w.r.t. dummy
arguments.  Although there is no real ambiguity, this diversity is unnecessary
and thus harmful.

We ought to use "appears" instead of "is present".  Edits are supplied for the
chapters in /B subgroup purview.
