List of papers passed at meeting #165 This is a list of the paper numbers that passed at meeting #165, including F95 interpretations. The reference is to the latest revision on the ftp server after the meeting, not to the actual revision that was voted upon. The motions below reference the actual revision voted upon. 03-191R2 03-212R1 03-226R1 03-243R1 03-192R1 03-213R1 03-227R2 03-245R1 03-193R2 03-214R2 03-235R1 03-246 03-194R3 03-217R1 03-236 03-247 03-195R1 03-219R1 03-237 03-248 03-198 03-220R2 03-238 03-249 03-205R1 03-222 03-239 03-250R1 03-207R2 03-223R1 03-240 03-208R1 03-224R1 03-241R1 03-211 03-225R1 03-242 The following two actions were approved without a formal paper. 1) Accepted WG5 recommendation to declare Interpretation 101 passed. 2) Accepted WG5 recommendation to change the informal name to Fortran 2003 Interpretation processing: Papers 239 and 242 are new interpretation requests #012 and #103. Papers 241 and 248 add changes for recent interpretations to 03-007. Paper 238 is interpretation JP-24 with edits for both Fortran 95 and 03-007 1. Monday, August 18, 2003 1.1 Opening business D. Nagle The meeting was called to order at 8:00 AM, Monday, August 18, 2003, at the Las Vegas Marriott Residence Inn, Hughes Center, by the chair, Dan Nagle. 1.1.1 Remarks from the chair D. Nagle Goal: Do the final edits, following the lead of WG5. Our only business is editorial unless we find a flat out blunder. Editorial polishing only. We will also look at enhanced modules papers and do interpretation work as time permits. 30-Aug-2003 Page 2 of 17 03-252 1.1.2 Adoption of agenda D. Nagle ** motion: adopt the agenda for meeting #165 as amended (moved by Snyder/seconded by Hendrickson ) passed by unanimous consent (UC) There will be a short US TAG meeting Thursday. The final agenda is in Appendix A. 1.1.3 Approval of Meeting 164 minutes D. Nagle ** motion: approve meeting #164 minutes paper J3/03-190 (Hendrickson/Long) - UC 1.1.4 NCITS/OMC report (if any) D. Nagle Dan Nagle filled out the annual report and submitted it. We are on time and on target for meeting the WG5 schedule. Membership is stable and possibly growing. Report is on the NCITS web site 1.1.5 ISO/WG5 report Van Snyder, IR The WG5 meeting had 4 significant results. The informal language name is now Fortran 2003. One technical change made to TYPE SELECT and type name syntax We were asked to revisit interpretation JP-24. A large amount of editorial work, see this meeting's papers. WG5 also did some work on the sub-modules technical report; this is discussed below in /EM papers. 1.1.6 H2 Liaison report (if any) C. Dedo No report 1.1.7 IEEE 754 report (if any) M. Ingrassia He has a copy of a presentation by David Huff on status of standard. They are still revisiting issues relevant to us. It will become a post meeting paper on the server. The IEEE group is meeting monthly and still making major changes. 1.1.8 Treasurer's report M. North As of now -- $1914.58 is the balance. There are no outstanding bills. There is a $50 meeting fee for this meeting. 1.1.9 Beginning membership report K. Hirchert Total membership at the beginning of this meeting is 13, with 10 members present or represented, 4 non-voting alternates present. Malcolm Cohen is now an alternate to Jeanne Martin. We have one visitor, James White from Oak Ridge National Labs. See Appendix E for further details. 1.1.10 Local arrangements M. North Described, but not noted 1.1.11 Comments from members Hirchert: He is retiring October 1 and probably will not attend any more meetings. 30-Aug-2003 Page 3 of 17 03-252 Maine: Avoid "wordsmithing" improvements as much as possible. Often minor changes in wording have surprising technical content. Things passed on from WG5 are reasonable to look at; but, in general, avoid merely improving wording. This document will effectively be the final standard. Long: There has been discussion on the e-mail reflector about NaNs. What we are doing is almost what C does. They allow a leading minus sign. Cohen: this is a deliberate decision at WG5 to NOT have signs on NaNs. /Interop will produce a NaN paper for a straw vote for the record. Snyder: WG5 allows J3 to fix serious flaws at this meeting; just not to change things because we don't like them. North: November meeting will probably be his last meeting. We will need to find replacements for his jobs. A) Librarian - assign paper numbers, keep old files, etc. B) Server - Maintain the server and e-mail reflector. The server will only be up until the end of the year. We can have the machine, but we will have to take over running it, etc. or find an alternate way to keep papers. It's easier if the server is run by the librarian. C) Treasurer - will need to open a bank account and get a credit card We will need to look into details and laws about setting up non-profit organization, etc., to handle accounts since laws or NCITS rules may have changed since North set things up. North will contact NCITS for info. The treasurer should also probably be local host to deal with Hotel, sign contracts, etc. D) Local host Maine: We might be money and effort ahead to hire a commercial web-service rather than attempt to do it ourselves. 1.2 Subgroup organization D. Nagle The subgroups are: /JoR: Hendrickson(acting head), Bleikamp, Nagle, Waveren /Data: Cohen (head), Hirchert, Ingrassia, Martin, Snyder, James /Interop: Long (head), Moene /Interp Cohen(acting head), Bleikamp, Waveren, James /Edit: Maine (head) /EM (Enhanced Modules): Snyder(head), Ingrassia (/Data will also work on EM as time permits; EM can be deferred until November meeting) Papers initially distributed to subgroups as follows: 30-Aug-2003 Page 4 of 17 03-252 Start with 209, the WG5 report and follow their recommendations.
